Joy in the Journey

Today Devin informed me that I am the one of (if not the most) negative people he knows. Ouch! However, I had an epiphany earlier this week, despite my brother's insulting jab. My whole life I have always wanted to be in the next stage of my life. I have always wanted to be like the big kids, be married, be successful, whatever it was that I didn't have at that particular stage. It dawned on me this week that if I spent my whole life wishing I would be miserable indefinitely. That is definitely not what I want to be. So I have made a resolution to find Joy in the Journey. I can now proudly tell my father that I truly appreciate his words of wisdom. I used to think I had. I mean I really loved President Thomas S. Monson's October 2008 General Conference talk, Joy in the Journey, but it was just this week that I somehow really discovered what it truly meant. So in short. I have now committed myself to stop wishing for what I don't have yet, and start loving what I do have now. Like my amazing husband and the great education that I am recieving.

  1. Sometimes even the best of us get a little pessimistic. It's a natural response at times I think.

I too loved President Monson's talk to enjoy the journey. It helped remind me to enjoy the little moments with my boys, and to no constantly be wishing for them to be more grown up, out of diapers, crawling etc. I don't want to wish those moments with them away. Soon, they will be grown, and I'll be wishing fir the days they depended on me for everything.

Love your cute blog! I look forward to reading about what you and Rick are up to.
