A Love Story

How We Met.

Rick and I both started college BYU-Idaho in September 2005. It wasn't top on either of our lists if I'm going to be truthful. Rick wanted to stay in the San Diego sun where he grew up and I wanted to be with all my friends down at BYU in Provo. But it quickly became clear that God had a better plan for us. We met our first weekend in Rexburg. My friends and I were excited about meeting new boys and decided to have a party the next weekend. Rick and his friends were excited about meeting new girls and came over to our dorm to check out the situation. Luckily for me we got to them before anyone else.

Best Friends.

We quickly became best friends. Running around together at night and dancing through the sprinklers, we did almost everything together. Neither of us were really interested in dating at the time but we shared nearly everything with each other. After our first Semester Rick went to Southern Virginia University to play baseball before he left on his mission to Russia that summer. After that we exchanged a few letters and the rest is history. While Rick was on his mission I decided that I needed to go on a mission myself and I entered the MTC in July 2008, about a month before he got home. It was poor timing to be sure. Although we hadn't really spoken in years for some reason he kept popping into my mind. Then one day  in October, just before Halloween I got a letter! It was by far the most exciting letter I had ever gotten. I couldn't contain myself!

Love.

We continued to write weekly until December. I had become really sick and needed to be sent home to sort out my health issues in early December 2008. After that you could say we were inseparable. Although at the time I was living in Michigan with my family and Rick was getting ready to move to Provo to work for the semester we talked everyday. I finally decided that I needed to go see him and find out what was going on. We spent two weeks together and new that was all we wanted. I had to go home, but after about a week decided that wasn't what I wanted and decided to move to Provo. Rick wanted to come visit and meet my family and we decided that President's Day weekend in February would be the best time. Coincidentally that weekend just happened to be Valentine's Day as well. I knew things were getting serious pretty fast, but I didn't want to be the first one to say the "L Word". So the night that Rick arrived in Michigan we were up all night talking and he finally said it!! Without hesitation I told him I loved him too. We decided that we wanted to get married before he left to do alarm sales in May and decided an April wedding in San Diego was perfect!

Marriage.

We were engaged for about 2 months and were sealed in the San Diego Temple for time and all eternity on April 18, 2009. This year we will be married for 3 years. We have the most handsome little boy ever (yes we're a little biased) named Jace and we couldn't have ever dreamed of anything better.
